You will be charged a certain amount to obtain the permit to maintain the safety and beauty of wildlife and biodiversity. You need permits and permit fees in the following regions in Nepal for entry:
Annapurna Region
Annapurna region, which is one of the trekking destinations, is nowadays local people’s as well as tourists’s favorite trekking destinations. Trekkers need two permits:
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):
- NPR 3,000, which is approximately USD 25, is required for foreigners.
- You can get permits at the Nepal Tourism Board offices in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card:
- NPR 2,000, which is approximately USD 15 for individual trekkers.
- You can get this card at the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN) and trekking agencies.
Everest Region
To enter the Everest Region for the Everest Base Camp trek, you require two permits:
Sagarmatha National Park Permit:
- NPR 3,000, which is approximately USD 25 for foreigners.
- You can get this permit at the starting point of the trek, nearby Lukla, or at the Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu.
Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit:
- NPR 2,000, which is approximately USD 20 for foreigners.
- You can obtain this permit at the starting point of the trek, near Lukla.
Upper Mustang
Restricted Area Permits (Special Permit):
- USD 500 for the first 10 days and USD 50 for each additional day you stay.
- You can obtain this permit through the Immigration Office in Kathmandu.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):
- NPR 3,000, which is approximately USD 25, is required for foreigners.
- You can get permits at the Nepal Tourism Board offices in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Manaslu Region
Restricted Area Permits (Special Permit):
- USD 100 for the first 7 days and USD 15 for each additional day of your stay from September to November. USD 75 for the first 7 days and USD 10 for each additional day of your stay from December to August.
- You can get this permit from the Immigration Office in Kathmandu.
Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP):
- NPR 3,000, which is approximately USD 25, is required for foreigners.
- You can obtain these permits at the Nepal Tourism Board offices in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):

Langtang Valley
Langtang National Park Permit:
- NPR 3,000, approximately equivalent to USD 25 for foreigners.

The Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card:
- The Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) card fee is Rs. 2000, which is around USD 15.
- You can obtain this card at the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN) and trekking agencies.
Upper Dolpo
Upper Dolpo Restricted-Area Permit (Special Permit):
- USD 500 for the first 10 days and USD 50 for each additional day you stay.
- You can get this permit at the Immigration Office in Kathmandu.
Shey Phoksundo National Park Permit:
- Nepali rupees are 3000, which is approximately USD 25 for foreigners.
- You can get this permit from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu.
