Day1

Welcome to Nepal! On your arrival day, our team will be waiting for you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. You won't have to worry about finding us, as we will be easily spotted around the terminal gate, eagerly waiting to welcome you. Once we meet and greet, we will transfer you to your hotel.

Take your time to relax and unpack after your journey. In the late evening, we will have a welcome dinner where you'll get to meet the rest of the team and your fellow travelers. Later, we will prepare for the trek and end the day exploring Thamel.

Day2

The drive from Kathmandu to Jagat via Besisahar is an adventure in itself. The journey begins in the bustling capital city of Kathmandu and takes you through the beautiful countryside of Nepal, passing through small towns and villages on the way. The road winds its way through the hills and valleys, offering stunning views of the Himalayan range in the distance.

From Besisahar, the drive continues to Jagat, a small village located on the Annapurna Circuit trekking route. This section of the drive takes you through narrow and winding mountain roads, passing through small villages and hamlets along the way.

Day3

The trekking route from Jagat to Dharapani passes through picturesque villages, lush green forests, and a river gorge, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The trail starts with a steep climb up to Chamje, which is the first checkpoint of the trek. From Chamje, the path follows the river upstream and passes through dense forests of bamboo and rhododendron.

As we walk through the forest, we come across several small waterfalls and streams. After a few hours of trekking, we will reach Tal, where we will stop for a quick lunch. From here, the trail crosses a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River and walks through a narrow gorge. Further, the trail then ascends steeply up to Dharapani.

Day4

The trek commences with a leisurely stroll that leads up to the suspension bridge, stretching across the Marsyangdi River. After traversing the bridge, the trail enters a serene pine forest and winds its way to Bhartang.

From here, the trail ascends to Dhikur Pokhari, which offers a breathtaking view of the Annapurna massif and Pisang Peak. The trek to Chame is a continuous uphill climb, taking anywhere from five to six hours. Chame is nestled within the Marsyangdi River Valley, north of Annapurna II and west of Paungda Danda.

Day5

The trekking route from Chame to Pisang winds through verdant forests, past rushing rivers and waterfalls, and across stunning mountain vistas. The first part of the trail follows the Marsyangdi River, which provides a soothing sound for trekkers as they trek toward Pisang. The trail gradually ascends through pine and fir forests, with occasional glimpses of the snow-capped peaks in the distance.

As we continue the trek, we pass through several remote villages. One of the most spectacular sights along the route is the Paungda Danda rock formation, which towers over the valley below. We get to see stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including Annapurna II and Annapurna IV, further on the way to Pisang village.

Day6

Leaving Pisang village, we will ascend via Ghyaru and pass by Braga. In Braga, we will stop to see a 900-years old monastery. The trail continues and crosses a wooden bridge on the Marsyangdi river. We will then begin ascending steeply to Manang village, passing by Ngawal. The trails become semi-arid and rough, with numerous rocks and boulders.

Day7

This rest day will help us avoid altitude sickness and prepare for the remainder of our trek. In the morning, after a delicious breakfast, we will go on a hike. The trail crosses the river and ascends uphill, offering a breathtaking view of the Gangapurna Glacier and the surrounding mountains. As we continue to climb to a hilltop over the ridge, we'll be able to gaze upon the picturesque Manang Village.

The ascent will take us 2-3 hours to complete, and we will encounter several ancient Tibetan monasteries, deep valleys, and verdant pastures along the way. From the viewpoint, we can see a stunning sight of the Annapurna massif, Tilicho peak, and Gangapurna. After taking in the view, we will descend the trail to Manang, where we will spend the night.

Day8

The trek from Manang to Siri Kharka is comparatively easier. We will take the upper route that leads us down to a river, which we will cross, and then continue on a path that winds through the coniferous forests.

After trekking for approximately three hours, we'll reach the Tibetan settlement called Khangsar. However, we won't be stopping here and trek toward Shiri Kharka. On the way, we can see stunning views of Mt. Chulu and Gungang Himal.

Day9

Today, we will trek from Siri Kharka to the Tilicho base camp. Although the trail is relatively painless, it passes through areas that are prone to landslides, so we must walk with caution. As we trek, we will be treated to the sight of spectacular rock formations and snow-capped peaks, including Tilicho Peak. The stunning landscape of the region is sure to leave us spellbound.

Day10

We will leave Tilicho base camp early and trek to Tilicho Lake in the early morning to avoid any possible wind later in the afternoon. The trail to the lake is steep and offbeat. We will get to behold a breathtaking landscape upon reaching the lake. The lake is surrounded by Tilicho Peak, the Annapurna range, and Mt. Nilgiri. After enjoying the views, we will retrace our path to the base camp and follow the same trail back to Siri Kharka.

Day11

From Siri Kharka, we trek towards Khangsar Village, following a downhill trail. On the way, we come across the ancient Tare Gumba monastery, which is over a thousand years old. After crossing the village, we follow a rocky wall that takes us through the Thorong Khola Valley and leads us to Yak Kharka. This region provides breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain ranges. We might even be lucky enough to spot a snow leopard or blue sheep along the way.

Day12

We'll continue trekking through the last settlement, Lete. The windswept trail will lead us up a ridge, offering a picturesque view of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Toboche, and Chulu Peaks. The scenery is truly breathtaking and worth every step of the climb. Further, we will descend and cross the Marsyangdi river via a wooden bridge. The trail then ascends from the right bank of the river and follows a narrow path before descending to Thorung Phedi.

Day13

Today's trek is undoubtedly one of the most challenging walks of the entire Annapurna Circuit Trek. The day begins with a brutal four-hour steep ascent to the top of Thorong La. The winding trail leads us through rugged terrain and loose rocks, making the climb even more challenging. But once we reach the summit, we're rewarded with a breathtaking view of snow-capped mountains, wonderful landscapes, and towering hills.

After taking in the stunning scenery, we'll descend from the cliff top & descend to Chabarbu. This is a popular spot for trekkers to take a break, relax and have some snacks before continuing the trek. We'll trek through long grassy meadows and steep slopes before descending to Muktinath.

As we arrive at the village, we'll have the opportunity to see numerous ancient Tibetan monasteries and stupas. The trek also rewards us with jaw-dropping views of Dhaulagiri and its neighboring snow peaks. We'll visit the Hindu Temple and offer prayers alongside other devotees, immersing ourselves in the local culture and traditions.

Day14

Today, we will hop on a local bus that will take us to Tatopani. The drive is bumpy, with plenty of twists and turns as we traverse the region that's home to the world's deepest gorges. Along the way, we'll pass through the lively Jomsom Bazaar before reaching Tatopani - a small village famous for its natural hot springs.

We will enjoy natural hot springs later in the day. It's the perfect way to relax and unwind after a long day of traveling. And with nightfall approaching, there's no better time to enjoy the rejuvenating benefits of these soothing waters.

Day15

From Tatopani, the trail goes to Ghorepani, passing through the fine remote villages of Sikha and Chitre. The path takes us through verdant forests filled with rhododendrons, birch trees, and magnolias. The rhododendrons, in particular, are a sight to behold during the blooming season.

As we make our way further up the ridge, the scenery becomes more and more breathtaking, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Finally, we arrive at Ghorepani, perched on the top of the ridge and offers breathtaking mountain views of Annapurna, Nilgiri, Fishtail, and Dhaulagiri.

Day16

Today, we will hike to Poon Hill early in the morning to catch a gorgeous sunrise along with panoramic views of the western Himalayan mountains. With over 20 towering peaks visible from this vantage point, it's no wonder that Poon Hill is considered one of the most famous viewpoints in the lower Annapurna region.

After spending some time at Poon Hill, we’ll begin our descent toward Ulleri. The trail goes through lush forests and drops down via stone stairs to Ulleri village, where we will end the trek. From here, we will drive back to Pokhara. Enjoy the evening at Phewa Lake.

Day17

After a big breakfast, we will travel back to Kathmandu today. The ride will be fantastic and scenic. The guide will drop you at the hotel upon reaching Kathmandu. You will have the rest of the day free. Relax and enjoy window shopping in Thamel. We will meet you in the late evening for a farewell dinner.

Day18

Today, you will leave Nepal and fly back to your home. As per your flight departure time, our team will drop you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. They will also bid you our last goodbye.

  • Fantastic guide-Karan

We had a great time trekking through the Himalayas. Everything was taken care of. We didn't have to worry about anything. Our guide Karan Gurung was amazing. Such an experienced guide. We always felt safe and also had a lot of fun while trekking. We were so glad to have Karan, our dedicated guide and Taran Gurung, our very strong porter with us. Especially on the way to Tilicho lake with the landslide areas. Everything was tailored and flexible to our preferences before and during the trek. In the teahouses during the trek we also didn't have to worry about anything. Karan and Taran made sure we had the nicest rooms and best experiences in the mountains. We enjoyed the company and also our own spare time. I have celiac disease, so I eat glutenfree. Anytime we had food, Karan made sure to communicate it well with the kitchen. Even with my weird request with egg with bananas. We were blown away by the beautiful nature of Nepal as well as the variety which you encounter on the Annapurna Circuit. Each day was a different experience altogether. We did Poonhill as a beautiful end to the trek. In April the Rhododendrons were absolutely gorgeous. We did our trek end of March/start of April.

Best time to do the Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake

When planning your Annapurna circuit with Tilicho Lake trek, it's important to consider the weather conditions, as they can greatly impact your experience. At Nature Excursion, we organize this trek throughout the year, so you have the flexibility to choose a time that works best for you.

The best times to trek are in the spring (March to May) & autumn (September to November), when the skies are clear, temperatures are pleasant, and minimal rain or clouds. These seasons offer stunning panoramic views and comfortable trekking conditions.

However, if you're up for a challenge, some trekkers enjoy tackling the Annapurna Circuit in the summer or winter. Note that these seasons come with their own unique challenges. In the winter, cold temperatures and snowfall can make trekking more difficult, while in the summer, the trails can be slippery due to monsoon rains.

Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake in spring (March to May)

Spring is undoubtedly the most popular time for the Annapurna circuit with Tilicho Lake trekking. This season boasts mild temperatures, low rainfall, and clear skies, making it ideal for trekking. During this time, thousands of travelers flock to the Annapurna region to experience the stunning views and diverse landscapes.

At higher elevations, the average daily temperature ranges from 8°C to 0°C, which can feel chilly but is manageable with the right gear. In the lower regions, the temperatures are warmer, making it comfortable for trekking. This pleasant weather, combined with the beautiful blooming flowers and greenery, makes spring an incredible time to embark on the Annapurna circuit and Tilicho Lake trek.

Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake in summer/monsoon (June to August)

June to August marks the summer season in Nepal. It also coincides with the monsoon (rainy season), which can make trekking in the Annapurna region more challenging. Although the temperature during this time is quite warm and pleasant, the trails can become wet and slippery, making it difficult to navigate.

The monsoon season typically starts at the end of June and lasts until the first week of September. At high elevations, the daytime temperature ranges from 10°C to 23°C, while the nights are cooler, ranging from 5°C to 10°C. Despite the rain, the mornings are generally cloud-free, but clouds tend to appear in the afternoon and retreat at night.

One advantage of trekking during the monsoon season is the blooming of various plants, which makes the trekking region look lush and green. We recommend bringing proper rain gear and being prepared for the wet and muddy trails during this season.

Our experienced guides are Intensive Wilderness First Aid trained and have years of trekking experience, ensuring your safety even during the monsoon season.

Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake in autumn (September to November)

The Annapurna circuit and Tilicho Lake trek during autumn is truly an unforgettable experience. As the monsoon ends by early September, the weather remains mild to warm throughout autumn. The daytime temperature, especially at high altitudes, can reach up to 20°C, while the nights are cooler, with temperatures around 5°C.

The stunning views during autumn are beyond words. The greens that grew during the monsoon gradually fade to golden/amber, providing a spectacular contrast against the crystal blue skies. The fields are full of ripening grains, and the environment is clean and refreshing. This season also coincides with the three biggest Hindu festivals, Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath, adding to the cultural experience of the trek.

Annapurna circuit trek with Tilicho Lake in winter (December to February)

During the winter season, the days are sunny, with temperature ranging from 6°C to 12°C. However, at night, the temperature can drop below -10°C. The temperature drops rapidly as the sun sets, and trekkers should prepare for cold nights. From late December through early February is the coldest time. After late February, the temperature gradually rises to -5°C.

The region is relatively dry during this time. Despite the cold, the views are crystal clear, and the trail is least busy. You will be surrounded by thick snow and may experience snowfall. The lack of vegetation and clear skies provide unobstructed views of the snow-capped mountains.

If you are happy with the service of our team, we request you tip our on-field crew, including the trek guide, drivers, tour guide, and porters, according to your preference at the end of their service.
  • Travel Insurance: We strongly advise you to get travel insurance covering emergency evacuation and medical bills for the Annapurna circuit Tilicho Lake trek. It is a very high-altitude trek with underlying risks of injuries and altitude sickness.
  • ATM: We recommend getting Nepali cash to use during the trek as there is no ATM along the trail, and locals do not accept foreign currency or cards for payment. You will need extra money for services like hot showers, charging, and WiFi while trekking.
